Texas Lemon Law Beat the new car blues
Many states use the phrase "Lemon Law" to refer to all of the laws available to a consumer who buys a bad car. In Texas the Lemon Law is an administrative proceeding of the Texas Transportations Department. According to Board Certified Attorney Mark Aschermann, who has represented a number of consumers in Texas Lemon Law hearings, the law does not provide adequate relief for consumers. To find out why, click this button on the Texas Lemon Law. ( http://www.texaslemonlawyer.com/default.aspx/MenuItemID/204.htm )
If you have a defective Texas vehicle or problems with a bad Texas dealer, Mark L. Aschermann can help you. Because of the prevalence of arbitration clauses in vehicle sales documents, you will probably want the assistance of an attorney in these matters to determine the nature and extent of your problem and whether your case deserves a lawsuit or a consumer arbitration.

Consumer Credit Law has changed dramatically in the last couple of years.
Ø The Bankruptcy Code been amended to deny many middle income Americans a Chapter 7 discharge;
Ø The Federal Trade Commission has issued new rules on credit card minimum payments;
Ø The Debt Collection and Credit Reporting industries have become more sophisticated and aggressive; and
Ø Arbitration of small consumer matters has become commonplace.
These changes may have affected you.
Credit Reports. Check your credit report at least once a year. If inaccurate information is reported, complain IN WRITING to the credit reporting agency. Copy the inaccurate information and forward it to the credit reporting agency so that it can find the item and seek verification from the furnisher of the information. If you still have a problem, consult me about this matter.
Divorce your Credit. So, you’ve divorced that lousy no good person to whom you were once married. You are rid of them once and for all, Right? WRONG. You may still be obligated on creditor accounts with that despicable Ex-Spouse. Credit cards, mortgages, car loans, and installment accounts may still haunt you EVEN IF THE DIVORCE DECREE says the Ex-Spouse is supposed to pay.
Ø How do you protect yourself if the mortgage is not paid?
Ø What if Ex-Spouse opens a new account after your divorce with YOUR credit information?
Ø What if Ex-Spouse is supposed to pay the car payment but gives the car back for repossession?
Ø How do you get items like this off your credit report? Can you get items like this off your credit report?
Call me if you are getting divorced and need help with these issues or if you have obtained a divorce and need to resolve some of these matters. Or read my legal article on Divorce Your Credit.
I am one of the few attorneys in the State of Texas that is Board Certified in Commercial and Consumer Law and one of the few from that small group that principally represents consumers. For 15 years I have been helping consumers that have questions about Credit Reporting, Debt Collection Harassment, Collection Lawsuits, Mandatory Arbitration, Debt Negotiation and Debt Counseling. Although I do not practice Consumer Bankruptcy, I can identify situations that warrant Bankruptcy and can make appropriate referrals. So don't use some out of state or law firm that does not know you or the courts of Texas. Use a real attorney with real experience.
